October 7, 2012

Please join Aiken Audubon on Wednesday, October 10 (yes - this is one week
earlier than normal) for a presentation by former Aiken Audubon president Rise
Foster-Bruder on "Birding Southern Africa".

Namibia and Botswana are wild and spectacular countries with towering golden
sand dunes, deep canyons, old granite mountains and shimmering plains
surrounded by rich bush. From the beautiful Namib Desert, the famous Etosha
National Park, the Caprivi Strip and the Okavango Delta in Botswana, this
program will deliver an African experience with birds and game amidst some of
the most dramatic scenery imaginable. Namibia is one of the least densely
populated countries in the world. The lack of human intrusion gives visitors a
chance to see Africa as it was 50 years ago. Both Namibia and Botswana offer
some of the finest game and bird watching opportunities on the
continent—without the crowds and traffic endemic to better known destinations
like Kenya and South Africa. Come join us for an evening visit to the “Dark
Continent.’’

When: Wednesday, October 10
Time: Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; program begins at 7:00 p.m.
Where: Colorado Division of Wildlife, 4255 Sinton Road, Colorado Springs

We will also have available our 2013 calendar "Birds of Colorado" featuring
beautiful photographs of Colorado birds generously donated by two of our board
members: Debbie Barnes and Leslie Holzmann. These calendars will be available
for a minimum donation of $12 each - cash or checks only. Proceeds benefit our
educational programs.

We hope to see you on Wednesday!

Christine A. Bucher
President, Aiken Audubon Society
Colorado Springs, Colorado
