Hi everyone, There are a couple of recent items on eBird that will likely appeal to birders in Colorado.
We just posted an article by Matt Young on Red Crossbills that covers the status and identification of flight calls of the different types of Red Crossbills in North America. The article covers taxonomy, known range, movements, preferred trees and flight calls. At the end of the article, there is a link to download the full article with sound files (the article is free, even though you add it to a cart to download it). http://ebird.org/content/ebird/news/red-crossbill-types Needless to say there is great expertise already on this topic in Colorado -- indeed some of the very best information available online concerning bird vocalizations is on the pioneering bird sound blog that Nathan Pieplow coordinates. http://earbirding.com/blog/ We also have a new photo quiz up on eBird. Mr. Bill tells me Colorado birders love photos quizzes. :) http://ebird.org/content/ebird/news/fallquiz2012 Wishing I was in Last Change watching Steve's Hermit Warbler. Best wishes, Chris Christopher Wood eBird Project Leader Cornell Lab of Ornithology http://ebird.org -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group.
