Another nice fall day..we were freezing as we started opening about 6:40,
but were warm and comfortable by about 8 a.m. This before dawn stuff
is..truly..for the birds...our best runs of the day were early when we were
still cold but the birds were frisky. Later in the morning, we were
catching lots of birds that we had banded in prior days - from yesterday but
also some from before the weather turned cold. 22 new, 14 recaps, for a
total of 36 birds. Here are the new captures:

Black-capped Chickadee 1

Brown Creeper 1

Ruby-crowned Kinglet 3

Hermit Thrush 1

Orange-crowned Warbler 2

Yellow-rumped Warbler, Myrtle 2

Yellow-rumped Warbler, Audubon 4

Lincoln's Sparrow 1

White-crowned Sparrow, Gambel's 1

Dark-eyed Junco, Slate-colored 1

Dark-eyed Junco, Oregon 3

Dark-eyed Junco, Pink-sided 2

This is our last week; we will take down the station after banding on
Sunday. We are closed on Thursday, and on Friday we are doing a Science in
Action program with DMNS (broadcasting from the field into classrooms) and
thus it will not be a good day to visit. So, really only 4 days left!
