I made a quick stop at Last Chance today [at the intersection of highway 71 and highway 36]. It was pretty, pretty, slow, with gale force winds. This I'm sure added to the situation. 1, immature Swamp Sparrow. This bird acted as if I was not even there. The experience was not a fleeting look, which I usually get of Swamp Sparrows.1, Song Sparrow1, Hermit Thrush2, Dark eyed Junco [Slate-colored Junco], 1, m. and 1, f.2 ,American Robin1, Townsend's SolitaireHouse Finches and that was about it. No Warblers anywhere. The many Canada Thistle seedheads are opening up , although they reproduce more by underground rhizomes. Next year should be interesting for this plant. Lot's of Golden Currant seedlings [Ribes aureum], coming up in many places.
