Actually, I think the redpolls are racing in a Big Year. They individually are trying to see how many Colorado birders they can list. That's why we only see one or two, generally, and for such short periods of time.

I've seen a few redpolls this season, but always only 1 at a time.  I
wonder why we're seeing only 1's and 2s, but lots of those.
