Just a note of interest, 1978 was also a very good redpoll year. We had flocks of 100 at Tamarack Ranch, 97 on Pawnee and several lesser sized flocks (25 or fewer) scattered around the state. I looked back at my old American Birds and there were very few on CBCs that winter (1977-78) because, it seems, most did not show up until late January and some lingered into March.
