Hi All, I observed a potential hybrid goose for 3 days in the small area of open water on the Northwest corner of Sloan Lake in Denver from January 1st - 3rd.
Curious if people have thoughts on what exactly it is. The sun was setting, so not great light on this ... plus I use my "poor man's" telephoto setup with a point and shoot camera held up to cheap spotting scope eyepiece. http://flic.kr/s/aHsjDtEXbG Sorry for the delay as my original message was rejected. Since that time, I also saw an adult Bald Eagle perched at Rocky Mountain Lake (Denver) - Jan. 4th and then, probably the same bird perched at Berkeley Lake (Denver) on the 5th. Simultaneously on the 5th, a 2nd year baldy was soaring high overhead at Berkeley Lake. Perhaps they are enjoying the concentrated waterfowl on the mostly frozen lakes. I also saw a blue phase snow goose on January 5th on the southeast side of Sloan Lake (Denver) on the ice. Definitely a different bird from the potential hybrid. I have photos if anyone is interested. Good Birding, Eric Albright Denver, CO -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group.
