Hello All,
Checked out the feeders behind the Red Rocks Trading Post this morning
and observed the Golden-crowned Sparrow come out of the brush around
8:00 A.M.and feed on the ground next to a classic White-winged Junco.
The female Prairie Falcon was perched on top of Frog Rock and the male
was perched on top of Park Cave Rock preening. Heard them calling
several times but no other interaction between the pair.
Checked out Ship Rock and still no Peregrine Falcons; did not see the
Ravens come to their nest on the west end of Creation Rock - last week
they were visiting and working on the nest nonstop.
The Golden Eagle is sitting on her nest in Bear Creek Canyon below
Idledale and saw the male flying low over the ridges west of the
nest. This is the first time I have observed the Golden Eagle on the
nest (checked last Friday), but she is difficult to see (almost
impossible until she moves her head), so she could have been there
last week and I just didn't see her.
