Not nearly as exquisite as the white sandhill at the Refuge, but an interesting specimen nevertheless. The CPW DWM at Monte Vista picked up a deceased car-struck crane that had what appears to be a congenital club foot. The club is several times larger than the toe base of the 'good' foot, has three lobes corresponding to the toes, a bump on the rear where the spur hallux would have been, and the metatarsus is (guessing) 30% - 50% larger in diameter than the good foot. I have photos I can send via email if anyone wants to see them. Kevin Corwin Arapahoe County, west Centennial
