North of Greeley Gravel Ponds Weld County
Gravel pit east side of the road on north 35th Ave. and Cache La Poudre River
Bridge. The birds have been plentiful the past week. There is a road adjacent
to the 35th Ave that gives birders good access to watch from the car. Pelicans,
Scaup, Red-breasted Merganser, Common Mergansers, Western Grebes, Cormorants,
Franklin Gulls, Yellow Legs and Avocet along the shore. An Osprey flew over
tonight. Each day brings a change in numbers and kinds of species.

Pond at WCR 46 & 37 had 28 species yesterday. Some along the shore. Many
Black-necked Stilts, Yellow Legs, and Avocets along with Pelicans, Pintails, 9
Great Blue Herons, three immature Bald Eagles, Cinnamon and Green-winged Teals,
Yellow-headed Blackbirds mixed in with Red-winged Blackbirds, and Grackles.to
mention a few.
A happy birder
