The red-tail hawk caught the hearts of New Yorkers when it began nesting on
a high rise overlooking Central Park in 1992. Fans were outraged when board
members removed the roost in 2004, launching a campaign to have the nest
reinstalled. Naturalist, photographer and writer Charles Kennedy plays a
central role in the movie and took many photos of Pale Male and other
wildlife in Central Park. His nephew, Steve Kennedy, a longtime trip leader
for Denver Field Ornithologists, compiled his uncle's writing into several
books which will also be available for purchase.
