I didn't get it posted night before last (as a quick acting viral infection
stopped me in my tracks) but there was a first of the year Black-crowned
Night-Heron at Sell's Lake. I wasn't able to do any birding again until
this afternoon and the Night-Heron was gone. However, I found a Green
Heron at that very busy pond. The two Black Phoebes along with an Eastern
(tho may be a hybrid) and a Say's Phoebe continues at that location
providing views of all 3 phoebe species often within 25 feet of each
other. The single Wilson's Phalarope that I noted was here on Thursday has
not been joined by at least 10 others There were dozens of Yellow-rumped
Warblers, both Myrte and Audubon's, working the trees around this private
pond that is viewable from a public parking area.

The Hermit Thrushes and American Pipits I did post about Thurs night had
moved on by this afternoon.

On Thursday I also found 2 Black Phoebes foraging together near the
MacKenzie Ave parking area for the Canon City Riverwalk. The Greater
Yellowlegs foraged in a pool of water in an agricultural field. Also had a
Peregrine Falcon dive after some bluebirds, of which both Western and
Mountain were in very good numbers.

I heard a familiar call on the Arkansas River that I believe is a shorebird
but I cannot place it--'kee, kee, do,, kee, kee, do'. Let me know if that
is familiar to you.
