If you would like to try to see the bird please call the Cockerhams at 303-771-8021 and arrange for a visit. The best viewing is from their kitchen. The bird is getting more difficult to predict and view. --A HUDSONIAN GODWIT was reported by Bob Brown at the edge of the meadow east of Cottonwood Pond at Cherry Creek SP on April 24. --A Broad-winged Hawk was reported by Strecher at Cherry Creek SP flying by the West Side Picnic Area on April 24. On April 25, Filby reported a Broad-winged Hawk in a tree near the Prairie Loop at Cherry Creek SP. --On April 24, Filby reported the following at Cherry Creek SP: 3 Thayer's Gulls, 1 Glaucous Gull, and 1 ICELAND GULL. --On April 26 at Cherry Creek SP, Teuton reported 3 Caspian Terns on the spit closest to the Marina. BACA COUNTY: --At Picture Canyon on April 23, Pendleton reported 2 Greater Roadrunners, Northern Parula, and 2 Rufous-crowned Sparrows. The Roadrunners were at the Homestead near the entrace to the canyon, the Parula was approximately 1 mile on left loop from the parking lot, and the Sparrows were 1/2 mile from parking lot near where the trail passes by an old earthen dam. --A f EASTERN TOWHEE was reported by Komar in Cottonwood Canyon on April 26. --At Two Buttes on April 26, Leatherman reported Eastern Phoebe and Swamp Sparrow. BENT COUNTY: --At John Martin Reservoir on April 23, Duane Nelson reported 6 Piping Plovers, 1 Snowy Plover, 1 ad breeding plumaged NEOTROPIC CORMORANT, and 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull (West End). If you want to see the Piping Plovers please contact Duane off-line. --A Red-bellied Woodpecker was reported by Leatherman at Tempel Grove on April 21. BOULDER COUNTY: --An Eastern Phoebe was reported by Mark Miller at the 75th St Bridge over Boulder Creek on April 20. Hanlsey reported hearing a singing Eastern Phoebe near the 75th St Bridge on April 25. --A Broad-winged Hawk was reported by Joel Such on Old South Saint Vrain Road in Lyons on April 22. --A Glossy Ibis was reported by Kingswood at Cottonwood Marsh on April 24. --A Broad-winged Hawk was reported by Hansley near 75th St and Boulder Creek on April 25. DELTA COUNTY: --A pair of Black Phoebes was reported by Harris at the headgate of Relief Canal on the W side of Gunnison River at the end of H75 Road on April 21. --A Fox Sparrow was reported by Beason along Stewart Ditch on the edge of Paonia on April 23. --2 Caspian Terns were reported by Bradley at Hart's Basin on April 23. DOUGLAS/JEFFERSON COUNTIES: --On April 24, Roller reported that the Eastern Phoebe was singing away at "Phoebe Bridge" at Chatfield. . EAGLE COUNTY: --A Fox Sparrow was reported by McConnell at Brush Creek on April 21. --10+ Barrow's Goldeneyes were reported by Filby at Spring Park Reservoir on April 26. FREMONT COUNTY: --On April 24, Moss reported Green Heron and Carolina Wren at Sell's Lake. --2 Eastern "type" Phoebes were reported by Moss east of Sell's Lake Parking Area in Canon City on April 21. --2 Black Phoebes were reported by Moss along the MacKenzie Ave part of Canon City Riverwalk on April 21. --A Broad-winged Hawk and imm Harris's Sparrow were reported by Moss in Canon City on April 22. JACKSON COUNTY: --At a feeder in Walden, Komar reported 30 Common Redpolls on April 24. --A Caspian Tern was reported by Komar at Walden Reservoir on April 24. JEFFERSON COUNTY: --The GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW at the Red Rocks Trading Post, first reported by Henwood on October 26, was seen again on April 24 by Henwood. --On April 24, Henwood reported that the "Slate-colored" Fox Sparrow was seen at Red Rocks Trading Post. --A F Rose-breasted Grosbeak was reported by Bob Santangelo of Wheat Ridge Redpoll fame on April 18. The grosbeak has been visiting the same feeders as the redpolls did, but she is very skittish so patience is required to see her. Santagelo reported on April 22 that the Grosbeak continues to visit the feeders. His address is 3525 Estes. Please do NOT park in the driveway, but it is okay to park in front of the driveway and get out of cars to see the feeders. --On April 21, 2 Broad-winged Hawks were reported by Joyce Commercon over Dinosaur Ridge Hawk Watch. On April 24, Rouch reported 8 Broad-winged Hawks over Dinosaur Ridge Hawk Watch. On April 25, Valieres reported 7 Broad-winged Hawks over Dinosaur Ridge Hawk Watch. On April 26, Hill reported 3 Broad-winged Hawks over the hawk watch. --At Bear Creek Lake Park on April 24, Henwood reported a singing Eastern Phoebe and a Broad-winged Hawk at Pelican Point on the Turkey Creek side. On April 25, Henwood refound the Broad-winged Hawk on the trail from Pelican Point towards Turkey Creek. KIOWA COUNTY: --3 Snowy Plovers were reported by Pendleton at Neegronda Reservoir on April 23. KIT CARSON COUNTY: --A Glossy Ibis was reported by Mlodinow at Flager SWA on April 24. LARIMER COUNTY: --At Horseshoe Lake on April 21, Komar reported Caspian Tern and 4-th cyc Lesser Black-backed Gull. LAS ANIMAS COUNTY: --On April 26, Komar reported 2 Broad-winged Hawks (1 light morph, 1 dark morph) in Cottonwood Canyon --On April 26, Komar reported a possible ARIZONA WOODPECKER in Cottonwood Canyon. It was seen in a side canyon opposite the south campsite area. This would be a new state record if confirmed. MESA COUNTY: --A BLACK-CHINNED SPARROW was reported by Bradley in Colorado National Monument on the No Thoroughfare/Devil's Kitchen Trail on April 25. PROWERS COUNTY: --An imm dark morph Broad-winged Hawk was reported by Duane Nelson at Lamar Community College Woods (LCCW) on April 23. On April 23 and 26, Leatherman reported a light morph Broad-winged Hawk at LCCW. --On April 24, Leatherman reported 3 Northern Cardinals at LCCW. --On April 22 and 26 Leatherman reported Carolina Wren at LCCW. PUEBLO COUNTY: --A Western Palm Warbler was reported by Percival at Osprey Picnic Area below Pueblo Reservoir Dam on April 21. --Black Phoebes were reported by Percival on the Arkansas River below Pueblo Reservoir Dam and at Rock Canyon below Pueblo Reservoir Dam on April 21. WELD COUNTY: --At Union Reservoir on April 21, Mlodinow reported 1 ad Thayer's Gull. --At Firestone Gravel Pits on April 21, Mlodinow reported 2 Red-necked Grebes and a Glossy Ibis. --A 3-rd cyc Glaucous Gull was reported by Mlodinow at Windsor Lake on April 21. --At Black Hollow Reservoir on April 21, Mlodinow reported 2 1-st cyc Thayer's Gulls. --A Broad-winged Hawk was reported by Mlodinow at Crow Valley CG on April 21. --A Lapland Longspur was reported by Mlodinow at Murphy's Pasture on April 21. --On the south side of Lower Latham at CR 48 W of CR 49, Kellner reported a near breeding plumaged American Golden Plover on the S side of the road on April 26. Depending on recent bird sightings will visit Pueblo City Park, Olive Marsh, Nature Center of Pueblo, Valco Ponds, Rock Creek Canyon Rec Area. Bring lunch and plan to walk as much as 3 miles on trails. Will be back at the Sears parking lot by about 6 pm.
