John Vanderpoel and I went out for a Boulder County "big day" today and ended
up with a trip list of 110.

Up to the mountains first, we had a FOS Band-tailed Pigeon in Ward along with
some hangers-on Brown-capped Rosy Finches and both breeding sapsuckers.
Returning to the foothills in Lyons we found Canyon Wren, White-throated Swifts
and Violet-green Swallows along Old South Rd., the canyon trifecta. At this
point we changed gears to plains birding and among the goodies were Snowy Egret
at Clark Res.; Willet, Semi-palmated Plover and Western Sandpiper at Boulder
Res. (by which time we had picked up with Peter Burke) and Eastern Phoebe at
the 75th St. Bridge over Boulder Creek. Walden was interesting and well birded
by John T. and lots of others. Among the noteworthy birds were Bank and
Rough-winged Swallows, Wilson's Snipe and Solitary Sandpiper and a really
scraggly looking Snow Goose. Several Chipping Sparrows were present at Valmont
and a last stop at Little Gaynor (great in end of day light) featured a handful
of Least Sandpipers and a Short-billed Dowitcher.
