This morning in the backyard we had our first two Broad-tailed Hummingbirds (male and female). We also had Chipping Sparrows(7), White-crowned Sparrows(Gambel's 6), Brown-headed Cowbirds(20), Yellow-rumped Warblers(2), and Pine Siskens(6). We also have Mountain Chickadees defending their birdbox against a pair of House Wrens. Does anyone know how rare it is to have Mountain Chickadees nesting here in Lakewood? This afternoon I ran over to Cherry Creek after Loch Kilpatrick told be about the longspurs. I had over 30 McGown's along with three Chestnut-collared.
