Arapahoe County: 

-- 2 Purple Martins were reported near the west end of Cherry Creek SP on
May 1.  

 

ARCHULETA COUNTY:

--A Northern Waterthrush was reported by Beatty on a small lake along CR 600
opposite Jack's Pasture Road on April 28

--A Glossy Ibis was reported by Beatty at Navajo Lake on the mudflats of
Piedra Arm south of Windsurf Beach area on April 28.

 

BENT COUNTY:

--Leatherman reports a Summer Tanager and Hooded Warbler at the Melody
Tempel Grove on May 2.

 

BOULDER COUNTY:

--A singing Northern Cardinal was reported by Morton on Norton St in South
Boulder on April 29.  The bird flew around the neighborhood and sang from
tree tops.

--A Broad-winged Hawk was reported by Piombino where N 61st changes into N
63rd and crosses St Vrain Creek on April 29.

--A Glossy Ibis was reported by Tumasonis at Walden Ponds on April 30.

--David Waltman reports on May 1, 2013 that he had 2 Common Redpoll at his
house, 8464 West Fork Road, Boulder, Colorado.  There are no previous May
records in Colorado in Bob and Bob or on eBird.

--Piombino reports a Common Redpoll at her feeders on May 1 on St. Vrain Rd
West of Hygiene.

--A Black Phoebe was reported by Deininger on May 1 at Boulder Creek and HWY
52.

--2 Dunlin were report by Dowell on May 1 at McIntosh Lake in Longmont.
They were seen again on May 2.

--A Glossy Ibis is reported by Such on May 1 at Boulder Res.

-- a Black-throated Gray Warbler was reported by Guarente at Garden Acres
Park in Longmont on May 2.

 

CLEAR CREEK COUNTY:

--A White-throated Sparrow was reported by Modesitt coming to feeders at 294
Mountain Ave in Empire on April 29.

 

DENVER COUNTY:

--A White-winged Dove was reported by Hudak coming to his feeders In Bear
Valley on April 27 and 28.  Birders are welcome to try to see the dove.
Both days the bird came in around the 10 am in the company of 2 Eurasian
Collared Doves.  They come to a hanging platform feeder.  The address is
3070 S. Hobart Way which is W of Sheridan off of Dartmouth Ave.   The
backyard can be entered via the gate on the right hand side of the garage.
There are no pets.  Please stay on the patio or the benches on the right
side of the yard.  

 

DOUGLAS/JEFFERSON COUNTIES:

--On April 27, Kellner reported 2 Eastern Phoebes and 2 Broad-winged Hawks
at Chatfield SP.  One phoebe was at the foot bridge over Plum Creek and the
other was at Kingfisher Bridge.  Both birds were singing.  One hawk was at
Plum Creek and the other by the Platte River.

EAGLE COUNTY:

--On April 30, Filby reported 6+ Barrow's Goldeneye at Spring Park
Reservoir.

 

EL PASO COUNTY:

--A Harris's Sparrow was reported by Dan Maynard at Fountain Creek Regional
Park on April 27.

--A Nashville Warbler was reported by Goff at Fountain Creek Nature Center
on April 29.

 

FREMONT COUNTY:

--On April 27, Percival reported 2 Broad-winged Hawks along the Bluff Trail
portion of Canon City Riverwalk east of Sells Pond Parking Lot; 3 Eastern
Phoebes between Raynolds Ave and Sells Ave on the Riverwalk; and a Black
Phoebe at the MacKenzie Ave Parking Lot and a Broad-winged Hawk W of
Mackenzie Ave Parking Lot.

--2 Black-throated Sparrows were reported by Percival along Hwy 115 east of
Florence on April 27.

 

HUEFANO COUNTY:

--A Broad-winged Hawk was reported by Neldner on Rouse Road on April 30.

 

JEFFERSON COUNTY:

The GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW at Red Rocks Trading Post, first reported by
Henwood on October 26, was seen again on May 2 by Henwood.

--On April 27, Wuerthele reported 2 Broad-winged Hawks over Dinosaur Ridge
Hawk Watch.  

--On April 28, Joyce Commercon reported 5 Broad-winged Hawks over the
Dinosaur Ridge Hawk Watch.

--A Broad-winged Hawk was reported by McBurney migrating over the Chatfield
Banding Station on April 28.

--On May 2, Henwood reported that the Slate-colored Fox Sparrow continues at
the Red Rocks Trading Post.

 

LARIMER COUNTY:

--A Broad-winged Hawk was reported by Sparks W of College Ave and the Poudre
Bike Trail intersection in Fort Collins on April 29.

--On April 29, Sparks reported 2 Common Redpolls still visiting feeder
behind the Discovery Museum in Fort Collins.

--A Caspian Tern was reported by Hess at Kechter Ponds in S Fort Collins
from April 23 to April 30.  Kechter Ponds is off of Strauss Cabin Rd.  A
scope is needed to see the tern.

 

MESA COUNTY:

--An EURASIAN WIGEON was reported by Leon Thurmon on a pond E of 29 Road on
the Riverfront Bike Trail in Grand Junction on April 27.

 

MORGAN COUNTY:

--2 singing Northern Cardinal were reported by Mlodinow near Fort Morgan at
Narrows Dam Site on April 28.

--At Jackson SP on April 28, Mlodinow reported Eastern Phoebe and Harris's
Sparrow.

 

OTERO COUNTY:

--A singing Northern Cardinal was reported by Dan Maynard at Rocky Ford SWA
on April 27.

--Snowy Plovers were reported by Dan Maynard at Lake Cheraw on April 27.

 

PROWERS COUNTY:

--At Lamar Community College Woods (LCCW) on April 28, Dan Maynard reported
M Blue-winged Warbler, Carolina Wren, Northern Cardinal Harris's Sparrow,
Broad-winged Hawk.

--At LCCW on April 29, Leatherman reported Northern Parula, Carolina Wren,
pr of Northern Cardinals, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Indigo Bunting,
White-throated Sparrow, and ad light morph Broad-winged Hawk.

--At LCCW on April 30, Leatherman reported Nashville Warbler (1 M
"eastern"), White-eyed Vireo, and 2 young M Rose-breasted Grosbeaks.

--A Hudsonian Godwit was reported by David Chartier in a Flooded Field W of
7 Rd leading into Thurston Reservoir on April 27.

--A Glossy Ibis was reported by Dan Maynard at Thurston Reservoir on April
27.

--At Fairmount Cemetery in Lamar on April 30, Leatherman reported F
Black-and-white Warbler and F Rose-breasted Grosbeak.

 

PUEBLO COUNTY:

--A M Black-and-white Warbler was found by the DFO field trip to Pueblo led
by Paul Slingsby in Pueblo City Park on April 28.

--A Nashville Warbler was reported by Drummond at Chico Basin Ranch
Headquarters (fee area) on April 30.

--A Summer Tanager and Broad-winged Hawk were reported by Percival at Pueblo
City Park on May 1.

--A Summer Tanager was reported by Percival and Truan at Mineral Palace Park
on May 2.

 

 

TELLER COUNTY:

--All 3 species of Rosy-Finches were reported by Dan Maynard at a feeder in
Divide on April 27.

 

WELD COUNTY:

--At Windsor Reservoir on April 28, Mlodinow reported 1-st cyc Lesser
Black-backed Gull and 2-nd cyc Thayer's Gull.

--On April 28 at Woods Lake, Mlodinow reported 1-st cyc Thayer's Gull.

--A 1st yr MEW GULL was reported by Mlodinow in the NW corner of Union
Reservoir on April 29.

--On May 1, Mlodinow reports a Short-billed Dowitcher at WCR 59 Ponds, 2
Red-necked Grebes and a GLOSSY IBIS still at Firestone Gravel Pits

 

 

The DFO field trip for Saturday, May 4 will be to Rigli Ranch led by Joe
Rigli (970-768-7121 <tel:%28970-768-7121> ).  Meet the leader at the ranch
by 0830. From Hudson, go east on CO 52 until it turns north.  Don't turn
north, but continue east on Morgan County road F to CR 14, then turn north
for approximately one mile to first house on left by boxcars.  Bring lunch
and extra water.

 

The DFO field trip for Sunday, May 5 will be to Denver City Park for a photo
and behavior trip led by Chuck Hundertmark (303-604-0521
<tel:%28303-604-0521> ).  Meet the leader at 0700 at the parking strip SW of
22nd Ave just north of Ferril Lake.  From Colorado Blvd, turn west onto 22nd
Ave. and go past the Museum of Nature and Science.  Turn left just before
the zoo at the sign to the Pavilion Bandstand.  Park on the left at the end
of the parking area closest to Ferril Lake.  We will photograph and observe
nesting behavior of Double-crested Cormorants, Black-crowned Night Herons,
and Snowy Egrets at Ferril and Duck Lakes.  For SLR's a 300mm lens or better
is recommended.  Will walk the park for migrants and early nesters.  Bring
water, snacks, binoculars, camera with optional tripod and scopes.  Half Day
trip.  Limit of 10 participants.  Call or email leader if you plan to
