HI all:

It is certainly a rare year for us when the winds don’t seem to send the birds
scurrying for cover. But in SE Colorado this weekend, winds were few to none,
making for great bird finding conditions. My wife Lisa and I spent the weekend
in SE Colo and had a blast. Here’s some of the hilites...

Friday: Broad-winged Hawk, adult, Lathrop State Park, Huerfano County
               Blue-winged Warbler: Lamar CC (Prowers)
               Black-and-white Warbler (female) LLC (Prowers)
               Nashville Warbler, LCC (Prowers)

Saturday: Two Buttes (Baca Cty) with many other birders
Black-throated Blue (found by Joey Kellner group)
Yellow-throated Warbler (JK group) (Lisa’s nemesis bird is no
longer a nemesis. As Joe R said, now you’ll have another nemesis bird!)
                2 Black-and White Warblers
                Solitary Sandpipers (2)
                Ash-throated Flycatcher

                At Nee Noshe
                 5 Black-bellied Plovers

                At Lamar CC
                  1 Curve-billed Thrasher
                    Rose-breasted Grosbeak

Sunday May 5th
               LCC: Northern Parula juv
                         Ruby-throated Hummingbird adult male
                         Gray-cheeked Thrush

Temples Grove, and thanks Joey and all for the directions!
                        Hooded Warbler male
                        Summer Tanager (juv)
                        Nashville Warbler

We sure enjoyed seeing and chatting with many front range birder friends. Nice
to see you all. Ended up with 13 species of warblers and the best year in
recent many. But NO Yellow Warblers!
Best to all.
