COBirders, Over 30 people participated in the 23 Annual Spring Bird Count at Fountain Creek Regional Park in El Paso County this morning. At the preliminary count we had roughly 95 or 96 species for the day. Nine warblers, but we did not see the signature poster bird for International Migratory Bird Day - the American Redstart.
Best birds for the park, count or FOS were Broad-winged Hawk, Greater Yellowlegs, Willet, White-throated Swift, Barn Owl, Gray-cheeked Thrush, Brown Thrasher, Plumbeous Vireo, Warbling Vireo, Virginia's Warbler, Blackpoll Warbler, Northern Waterthrush, MacGillivray's Warbler, Yellow-breasted Chat, Summer Tanager, hundreds of Chipping and Lark Sparrows. There seemed to be new birds dropping in all the time. Hope the next few days are even better.
