COBirders, Yesterday I was enjoying the birds at our feeding station next to our cabin at 9200 feet in NW Custer County, while also watching the golden-mantled ground squirrels and least chipmunks forage under the feeders. Suddenly they all bolted for cover as a Northern Goshawk came cruising by. However, I noted the accipiter was carrying a dead ground squirrel in its talons so at that moment the possible prey at our feeding station had less to fear than they thought.
