Had an Eastern Kingbird at Manitou Lake in Teller Co yesterday evening.
Hawking insects over the beaver ponds to the south of the lake. I have two
other records of this species here: 8/19/2012 and 9/2/2009.

Other FOS for the lake:

. Cattle Egret - only one other record from 4/23/2012

. House Wren

. Blue-gray Gnatcatcher

Pretty sure I had northern waterthrush and orange-crowned warbler based on
calls/songs; but could never find them and they wouldn't call again.

35 species in all.

Also of note: pair of magpies putting finishing touches on their nest in my
neighbor's yard. I presume the same pair that successfully fledged 3 young
last year out of a nearby nest that, once fledged, took up residence in my
Canada Cherry tree outside my bedroom and office window. The racket was
non-stop for about a month until they finally moved on. It was from this
pair last year that I got to witness the magpies actively hunting my feeder
birds (pinning evening grosbeaks to the ground and pecking them in the
head).
