Hi again, COBirders,

While checking my 85 bluebird houses at USAFA this afternoon I flushed my FOS
Common Poorwill in the shaded pines above Ice Lake.

Also - a bluebird aside - nesting is VERY LATE this season. 2012 I had 15
active nests with eggs by May 1, and 35 by this date.
In 2013 - 5 nests with eggs today, and four of those just started eggs in the
last two days. It is very dry, the grass is dead, and there are few bugs
around, either.

Usually bluebirds and nuthatches are well on their way before the House Wrens
and swallows arrive - but they are all on the same footing this year. It will
be interesting to see if the wrens will now dominate the boxes as they do.
