My wife Lisa and I did a big day on May 16 th and had a wonderfully productive day of bird finding. We found a total of 138 species, the second highest big day for the San Luis Valley (143 record).
-- Best species were Nashville Warbler and White-winged Dove at Home Lake SWA (Rio Grande County). Please add those to the rare bird report and thanks.
Other highlights included White-throated Sparrow, Black Tern, Northern Waterthrush, Long-eared Owl, Hammond's Flycatcher, Sanderlings, Stilt Sandpipers, Canvasback and Red-necked Phalarope.
We did another big day with a group of 4 on Tuesday May 14th and I'll get a post on that later. It netted 131 species.
