I had a male Rose-breasted Grosbeak singing in a tree on the other side of
fence at my home this afternoon. The Gray Catbird visited again today to
sing.

I was surprised to find a MacGillivray's Warbler on a dry gambel's oak and
juniper hillside on private property near Canon City this morning. I
spotted two small birds fly down the hill into a shrub oak, the other bird
was a Virginia's Warbler. They both fed on the sparse green leaves (only
partially leafed out) which is not close to any water. Also found an
apparent pair of Plumbeous Vireos in same area and habitat--he was singing
and appeared to be showing the female various properties that might be good
for nesting. Also saw several Ash-throated Flycatchers, a species that
also nests in this location and habitat.

I checked on a Red-tailed Hawk nest that is located in a cave on a cliff
and saw her two nestlings when she returned with food. I got photos of
them and have uploaded them to my Birds and Nature
blog<http://birdsandnature.blogspot.com/>
.

At dusk I found 2 Snowy Egrets at Sell's Lake next to the Canon City
Riverwalk. I also saw several (3-5) large bats flying at dusk and got
photos that I think can identify them. If anyone is skilled at identifying
flying bats I would appreciate assistance so will have the photos on my
Birds and Nature blog soon.
