Spring migrants continue to be coming through in good numbers. Many birders were at Chico Basin Ranch (fee area) in Pueblo and El Paso Counties today. Here is a summary of birds that were seen. There may have been other birds that were heard singing, though weren't actually seen I don't think.
El Paso County (banding station area mostly): PAINTED BUNTING - 1 female type bird Northern Parula - 1 American Redstart - 2 female type birds Veery - 1 Yellow-billed Cuckoo - 1 Common Poorwill - 1 Pueblo County (Rose Pond): CAPE MAY WARBLER - 1 male Yellow-throated Vireo - 1 Blackpoll Warbler - 1 female Townsend's Warbler - 1 male Red-eyed Vireo - 1 Pueblo County (Headquarters): Blackpoll Warbler - 1 male Veery - 1 Red-eyed Vireo - 2 American Redstart - 2 female/imm. Common Poorwill - 1 I'm sure there are other birds I'm forgetting, there were 15+ birders at Chico today, and not everyone saw everything. There were lots of Yellow Warblers at the Ranch today, one small willow tree at the HQ, had like 20 of them at one time.
