After dropping someone off at DIA late morning, I headed to Last Chance (got
there about 11:30 and stayed until 2:30), then went north to Riverside Cemetery
in Fort Morgan, Crow Valley CG in Briggsdale, and finished at Crom Lake w of
Pierce.
Last Chance Highlights:
Yellow Warbler (at least 15, probably many more)
Least Flycatcher (20+)
Common Yellowthroat (25+) never seen so many in one CO location
Common Poorwill (2)
American Redstart (1i male)
Tennessee Warbler (1)
Willow Flycatcher (1)
Warbling Vireo (1)
Pine Siskin (heard)
Yellow-breasted Chat (1 or 2)
Common Nighthawk (1) FOY for me
Lazuli Bunting (1m)
Swainson's Thrush (about 10)
Veery (1)
Western Tanager (1f)
Total of 44 spp. (very birdy, did not see YthrVireo or some of the empids
mentioned by Dan Maynard, but I could have missed them, plus there was obvious
turnover during the time I was there).
Of note, basically all of the trees and shrubs planted recently are showing new
growth, which is a tribute to the quality of the stock, care in planting, the
drip system, and some spring rains. The prairie, including the burned portion,
is very green and recovery of the area is progressing nicely. Perhaps in that
vein, it was neat to see a Western Painted Turtle in the spring. Was it
planted there? If not, how in the heck........?

MacGillivray's Warbler (1m)
no doubt lots of other stuff that was impossible to see in the wind, that I
otherwise missed, or in places I did not walk (the west and north sides of the
CG)
Crom Lake on Weld CR31 w of Pierce:
Semipalmated Plover (1)
lots of other common waterfowl
NO Red-necked Phalaropes, which I sort of expected.
