There were two Swainson's Hawks on the west side of Mt Carbon this morning.
One was first seen on a rocky outcrop, took flight, and was joined by a
second one. Soaring together, perhaps a pair, wandered off southwesterly,
over the horse pasture at Simms & 285. I saw a single Swainson's one week
ago, same location, soaring very high and effortlessly on the thermals.

Commonly there are Red-tails in this very same location; one was seen this
morning, sitting on a large rock eating a freshly killed prairie dog.
