Hi all,

I birded with the Durango Bird Club group today at Chico Basin Ranch.

The highlights follow:

Pueblo County side:
Chestnut-sided Warbler - 1 photographed at Rose Pond
Townsend's Warbler - 1 male at Rose Pond
Northern Waterthrush - 1 at Rose Pond (thanks to David Chartier)
Ovenbird - 1 at Headquarters (seen by Susan Allerton)
Least Flycatcher - 1 at Headquarters

Olive-sided Flycatcher - 1 at Headquarters
Red-breasted Nuthatch - 1

El Paso County side (banding station):
Black-and-white Warbler - 1 female/imm.
Cassin's Vireo - 1
Blue-headed/Cassin's Vireo - 1 (the bird had a dark head, though we couldn't
quite be sure which it was)
Hammond's Flycatcher - 1
Willow Flycatcher - 1
Red-breasted Nuthatch - 1

Clay-colored Sparrows, Blue Grosbeak, Brown Thrashers, Lazuli Bunting,
Yellow-breasted Chat, Lincoln's Sparrow, among other birds.  There are a lot of
sparrows in the trees, lots of Chippings and Brewer's (many of them singing).
In the cholla cactus, we saw Scaled Quail, Curve-billed and Sage Thrashers,
Vesper Sparrows, and a Northern Harrier.

Along Hanover Road, west of Meridian Road, there was a body of water on the
south side of Hanover Road, where we saw five Black Terns.
