I birded today with Janeal Thompson at both Fairmount Cemetery and the woods
behind Lamar Community College. We were joined in late afternoon by Duane
Nelson at LCC Woods.

Great Crested Flycatcher (3)
Cassin's Vireo (1)
Lamar Community College Woods
SCARLET TANAGER (non-breeding male) - greenish, black wings, blackish bill, no
wing bars, slimmer than Western, in Russian-olive just e of the phone box on
telephone pole east of north end of basketball courts (i.e. just south of the
midpoint of the whole drive behind the college e of the dumpster e of the north
end of the dorms)
Chestnut-sided Warbler (immature female) south of the area described for the
tanager, 2nd day in a row
Nashville Warbler (1 or 2)
Black-and-white Warbler (1f) north end
Northern Waterthrush (2)
Wilson's Warbler (30+)
Orange-crowned Warbler (1)
Yellow Warbler (2-3)
Red-eyed Vireo (1)
Cassin's Vireo (1)
Blue-headed Vireo (1) on 9/12
Warbling Vireo (at least 3)
Northern Cardinal (at least 3)
Willow Flycatcher (eastern race, I think: big empid, very slight crest, very
thin complete eyering (from a distance looks like no eyering), yellowish
underparts, brownish wingbars, big thick tail, lower mandible bright yellow)
Dusky Flycatcher (1)
Olive-sided Flycatcher (1)
Western Wood-Pewee (at least 4)
Blue Grosbeak (1m, 1f)
Black-headed Grosbeak (1)
Western Tanager (2-3)
Turkey Vulture (40+)
Missississippi Kite (25+)
Chimney Swift (15+)
Least Flycatcher (2)
no thrushes
Lots of action in both Russian-olive and tamarisk. Cottonwoods also fairly
productive. Wind made detection somewhat tough. Heavy rain in last afternoon
(1+ inches, a mere sprinkle for the Front Range of late).
