Following up on Brad Biggerstaff's finding Philadelphia Vireo this morning, I
visited the Spring Creek Trail/Cottonwood Park/Spring Canyon Community Park
area over the lunch hour and again this evening and  found several flocks of
migrants. The vireo was still present in the evening (although I missed it).
Some interesting birds I did see:

Clark's Nutcracker - 1 flyover

Calliope Hummingbird - 1

Archilochus species hummingbird -1 (I am leaning towards Ruby-throated, but
need better photos)

Broad-tailed Hummingbird - 1 (getting late? Not according to ebird)

Rufous Hummingbird - 12 (all female types; remarkable number)

This area is reached by car by driving to the south end of Overland Trail or
the west end of Horsetooth Road. It is just east of the south end of Pineridge
Natural Area (Dixon Res. is at the north end). A thorough survey of the area
would probably turn up 50 species of birds. I put some photos (including
possible Ruby-throated Hummingbird) from today's visits in my recent pics
gallery at  http://www.pbase.com/quetzal/ . Scroll  to bottom of page. I will
probably be back at first light tomorrow to try to get better photos of the
possible Ruby-throat, which was visiting a feeder in a backyard that abuts the
east side of Cottonwood Park (park at south end of Overland Trail; walk east
across grass sports area; feeder is just south of a flooded cattail marsh).
