Bird numbers
picked back up during the second half of the week at the Chico Basin Ranch
banding station. Species and totals for
the three days follow. We had our
highest single-day species count on Thursday, with 29. Our first Audubon’s
Warbler arrived on
Thursday, as well as a lovely Philadelphia Vireo. Friday brought a single
Winter Wren, followed
by a second on Saturday. We have banded 1175 birds of 36 species thus
far this season.
