COBIRDERS,
Yesterday afternoon I was enjoying a glorious Fall day hiking at about
8,000 feet on private ranch property near Bailey. Two times between 2:30
and 3:00 p.m. flocks of Sandhill Cranes noisily passed over on their
migration south. One flock was small and the other large; between 100 and 125
birds total. They were heading south and southwest over the Platte River Mts.
toward the Kenoshas and the Tarryalls. One group appeared to be heading
for South Park. Great fun!
