Please mark your calendar for Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory's fifteenth consecutive year of compiling count totals for Barrow’s Goldeneyes (BAGO) in Colorado! This year we will be accepting data collected from 22 November through 2 December. It is possible that all the BAGO found in Colorado in this time of year represents the portion of the species that breeds in the state. Therefore, by counting the birds in Colorado at this time of year, we are getting an idea of how the population of BAGO is doing. However, we don't really know for certain and it possible that some birds are coming from Wyoming or farther north. We would appreciate reports of any BAGO in Colorado during the count period, however, we also appreciate counts of all waterbird species present at each location visited. If participants would enter their count totals into eBird that would be much appreciated. I will check eBird for all BAGO reported during this time period for those of you that don't post on CoBirds or WSBN. Or, you can send count totals to me at this e-mail address or [email protected].
