Greetings All

Rock Pigeons occur across a fair portion of the world as a native species. In
many of those places, birders are interested in entering wild-type Rock Pigeons
as something different than the mutt-type feral Rock Pigeons. In the USA,
basically all of our pigeons originate from the feral type, even those breeding
in more "natural" locations (which also, interestingly, seem to look more like
"true" Rock Pigeons). In any case, this is just a bit of a warning that the
only choice on eBird in the USA will soon be feral Rock Pigeon. It will not
change list totals or such. They are working on a category for entering captive
(eg, homing pigeons) as a third type of entry, one that would not count on
lists.
