I observed a lone Turkey Vulture soaring over Hampden Avenue just west of University Blvd at 10:45 AM today. I considered dark morph winter raptors, but the dihedral posture, "no-headed" look, lack of flapping, and color pattern were helpful clues, and I became certain after I saw it "teetering" in the light wind. There are only a few reports of this species from November in Colorado.
