I arrived around 1:00 pm this afternoon at Big Johnson Reservoir in El Paso County. The sun was shining, it was 64 degrees, the wind was calm, and the birds were plentiful. By 2:00 pm it was still sunny but the wind was blowing a gale and the temp had dropped 10 degrees.
When I first arrived there were 4 Greater White-fronted Geese on the near shoreline. There were also lots of other waterfowl, but as the wind came up the birds either departed or went behind the dam for cover. No loons and no Long-tailed Ducks in evidence today. Good birding!
