COBirders, I thought I sent the email below last Wednesday night but because I sent it with the wrong email address it bounced (after more than a day I think). It refers to Nick Komar's quick reply to my query that evening.
Leon Bright, Pueblo From: Leon Bright [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, November 13, 2013 10:36 PM To: COBIRDS Subject: First fall Northern Shrike Nick (and COBirders), Thanks for the detailed comment on Jim Thompson's photo. My assumption that the bird was a fledgling stems from its partial mask that does not extend toward the nape. We frequently get both Northern and Loggerhead shrikes on the Pueblo CBC and I have not noticed any with such an abbreviated mask. Now I know I need to spend some time looking at shrike photos and observing more carefully in the field. Hats off to Jim who, as you have confirmed, nailed it. :-) Leon Bright, Pueblo -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group.
