I decided it would not be safe to attempt the Black Mesa highway drive with the overnight snowstorm. We will try to make it to Blue Mesa Reservoir nest Sat (Nov 30). Five birders from Paonia did make it to several Delta Co waterbodies this morning and there were several interesting species. Best was a White-winged Scoter at Confluence Park. Also present were 17 Ross's Geese, 2 Common Loons, and one Bonaparte's Gull. At the 1250 Road just south of Hwy 50 were many Sandhill Cranes, 8 Wilson Snipes, and 2 shorebirds that we weren't certain about (peep-sized). Sweitzer had 3 Common Loons and several duck hunters so not much else. At Fruitgrowers were several Western Grebes. Many Common Goldeneyes were seen but no Barrow's Goldeneye. Also, this morning in my yard was a late Wilson's Warbler.
