Hi All, Yesterday (Dec 28) afternoon, we found an adult Snow Bunting at Hohnholz Lakes SWA in extreme northern Larimer County, at the parking area for Hohnholz Lake #2. There were no other birds that we saw besides a handful of Common Ravens and Rough-legged Hawks.
To reach Hohnholz, drive north to Laramie on 287 (Wyoming!), drive west to Woods Landing/Jelm on WY230, south from Jelm on WY10 (which turns into CR103 once back in Colorado), and then a righthand turn at a large, green Colorado Division of Wildlife sign. After turning off of CR103, stay on the main dirt road for a mile or two and look for the sign for Hohnholz #2. This is about a 3 hour trip from Denver. CR103 does continue on to Fort Collins/Poudre Canyon, but we've heard that it's impassible in the winter. Good birding!
