Folks- I'm sad to report that the cold snap was too much for the Ovenbird that has been frequenting my yard. It's first stint was 21 November - 11 December 2013, and it reappeared 4 & 5 January this year. I found it in one of the protected areas it preferred with no outward signs of trauma. It was -10.5° F when I left for work this morning, certainly far from what this neotropical migrant should be experiencing.
Thanks for all the great notes & inquiries about the bird!! Wishing for something that likes it cold now. Enjoy- Bill Schmoker, Longmont -- /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ | Bill Schmoker | | [email protected] | | http://schmoker.org | | http://brdpics.blogspot.com | \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group.
