Yesterday morning (Feb 5) there were nice gull concentrations at Cooley
Lake in South Platte Park, and at McLellen Reservoir. Both bodies of water
were 99% frozen, and after gull-watching in -10 degrees I was personally
110% frozen. Sometimes I feel like a fool (for birds). McLellen had over
1300 gulls, including an adult GREAT BLACK-BACKED and an adult THAYER'S,
plus one BALD EAGLE. Cooley had over 400 gulls, with a 3rd cycle LESSER
BLACK-BACKED GULL, and a 1st cycle THAYER'S GULL, plus two BALD EAGLES.

On Feb 1 some uncommon winter birds for Arapahoe County included eight PINE
SISKINS at South Lakeview Street, a STELLER'S JAY at St. Mary Church, and a
MERLIN passing by the area of Gallup x West Caley.

Today (Feb 6) a STELLER'S JAY was in a backyard neighboring St. Mary Church
- perhaps the same bird that I saw on Feb 1.
