Wednesday afternoon there were 3 Short-eared Owls on Weld County Road 7 a
couple miles north of Mead. They were flying low and perching on posts and
on the ground on both sides of the road near the top of the ridge north of
Weld County Road 38. A couple of Ferruginous Hawks and groups of
meadowlarks and horned larks were in the deep gulch a little farther north.
