A harbinger of spring, despite the high winds…While walking our dog, I was
privileged to see a beautiful male Mountain Bluebird flitting around the
grasses in the Molly Moon Meadow near Red Feather Lakes this morning. I just
hope he still has many friends, after our Mountain Bluebirds were devastated
last spring when they tried to avoid a spring storm by migrating down to Fort
Collins, where reportedly hundreds died of starvation and/or freezing. Very
few returned to the hills to breed last summer.
