Among the juncos and Tree Sparrows coming into our yard on Friday and Saturday
(Mar. 6-7), a Chipping Sparrow has joined up. It seems early, but we can
clearly differntiate it from the Tree Sparrows by several marks. (No central
spot, no rusty shoulder, fairly strong eye line, to the bill).
It shows up sporadically -- we haven't seen it yet this morning. I took some
pictures of dubious quality but some show the field marks adequately.
The snow brought back a passel of juncos - 60 or more - along with the other
usual species that we see out the windows.
