This afternoon (3/9) a Common Redpoll (adult male) was hanging around with a mi xed flock of mostly House Sparrows and a few House Finches, behind the Homelake Cemetery at Monte Vista . It perched in upper branches of a Lombardy Poplar tree. This was a rare species for us in the San Luis Valley. Also saw my first American Avocet of the season on Home Lake today.
