Hi all I walked around Weld CR 114/Hwy 85 SE corner this morning hoping for an early Chestnut-Collared Longspur--just Horned Lark and Western Meadowlark today. This is often deemed as a "can't miss" spot for Chestnuts in spring/summer--BUT--requires a renewable permit (or else your trespassing) from USDA/Agriculture Research Station to enter grounds. Soon as I start seeing them here I'll probably offer up a few trips inside the property--I have a permit (USDA employee). BTW "thee" "can't miss" for Chestnuts or Mccown's is Chalk Bluffs Road up Hwy 85 three miles past CO/WY border on east. Runs about 20 miles in length--there are many (of both) there through the breeding season. Thanks Gary Lefko, Nunn http://coloradobirder.ning.com/ Mobile: http://coloradobirder.ning.com/m
