This morning we found a White-winged Dove at Fountain Creek Regional Park.
It was near the nature center and flew north. Things are starting to liven
up in the park: mourning doves are back as well as grackles and one
cormorant too.

A couple other interesting sightings lately:
-There has been a RC Kinglet at the Colorado College farm active and
singing. I first saw it about two weeks ago, so not sure if this was a
wintering bird or an early migrant.
-At 11 Mile Canyon on Wednesday there were dippers courting and mating and
at least two nests. There were also a few White-throated Swifts. On the way
up near Divide I saw a hawk hovering that I would assume was a Rough-legged
(which would be getting late), but we were driving on and I couldn't stop
to look. Many Western Bluebirds along highway 24.

Buds are just starting to break in the Springs. Elms and lilacs are
leafing, currants and gooseberries are pretty much out. Ash and Maple are
flowering and chokecherries will be soon. I've seen quite a few Mourning
Cloaks out (including one up at 11 Mile) and Cabbage Whites as well.

Happy Trails,
Lee Farese
