In Pueblo West this morning, I saw a Swainson's Hawk, which (a pair) have been
around since 3 April.

Along the Frisbee Golf Course creek in Pueblo City Park early this morning,
there were singing Myrtle and Aububon's Yellow-rumped Warblers, along singing
Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Mountain Chickadee, Pygmy and Red-breasted Nuthatches,
Cedar Waxwings, "Gray-headed" Dark-eyed Junco.  This portion of Pueblo City
Park was good last spring for migrant passerines, so I think Pueblo birders
will want to check this area later on in April and during all of May.

Below Pueblo City Park, along the Arkansas River, at the footbridge that
crosses the river, there was an Eastern Phoebe.  This bird has been around for
at least a week.  There were quite a few Turkey Vultures roosting in trees
along the Arkansas River, and in Pueblo City Park.  There was also a Lincoln's
Sparrow in this area along the River.

Chris Knight and I then birded all of the Valco Ponds side of the River, below
Pueblo Reservoir dam.  The best birds were:  a Harris's Sparrow (first found
yesterday), a Great Egret, and an Eastern Phoebe (east of Valco Ponds parking
lot, we didn't see the any west of Valco Ponds parking lot this morning).
Other stuff:  two Hooded Mergansers, a male Brown-headed Cowbird, a
Yellow-headed Blackbird, Tree, Barn and Cliff Swallows, a Sage Thrasher, an
adult Black-crowned Night-Heron, two Marsh Wrens, two Mountain Chickadees,
"Gray-headed" Dark-eyed Junco, a Ruby-crowned Kinglet, both a Cooper's and a
Sharp-shinned Hawk, and Ospreys.

For unknown reasons, there are still no Black Phoebes in Pueblo this spring, as
far I as I know.  If you hear one around here, make sure to see it, as the
Eastern Phoebes calls can sound exactly like Black Phoebes.
