Late yesterday afternoon, a birder visiting us for the Harris's Sparrows,
told me that he had seen a quiet Sandhill Crane fly over.

This morning, starting at 6 a.m., I can hear at least one Sandhill calling
from the fields south of my house off of St. Vrain Rd.

Rather late? lost? sick? Must be hard for such a gregarious species.
