Hello, Birders.

Here are links to audio of some of the birds I recorded May 23-25 at the
Lazy UO Ranch, Las Animas County:

Rufous-crowned Sparrow, 5/24, singing its typical “dry bubbly” song, one of
fifteen we detected at the ranch: http://www.xeno-canto.org/179857

Rock Wren, 5/24, giving a typical series of songs:

Canyon Towhee, 5/24, singing its primary song:

Canyon Wren, 5/25, doing the Paul Winter thing:

Cassin’s Sparrow, 5/25, singing during its display flight:

Lark Sparrow, 5/23, singing its complex and disjointed song:

Gray Flycatcher, 5/24, and Eastern Phoebe, 5/24. These might seem like an
unlikely combo, but they nest side-by-side where juniper woods come down to
the banks of Carrizo Creek.

Eastern Phoebe: http://www.xeno-canto.org/179848

White-eyed Vireo, 5/24. We weren’t able to get especially close, but,
still, you can easily hear this bird’s distinctive song:

Summer Tanager, 5/25. This is one of at least three birds we documented at
the ranch: http://www.xeno-canto.org/179846
