Greetings All

Today I headed south to avoid winds.
Mark Peterson told me to look at a couple reservoirs in Kiowa, long dry, but no
so after recent deluges.
The first sizable pond has no name... mostly a flooded farm area, just south of
Eads. On west side of 287/385. I pulled over off the shoulder (this is best
done about sunrise). There was a fair number of shorebirds, 8 Solitaries and 2
Sanderlings being the most interesting. Far more unusual was a blue SNOW GOOSE
feeding on emergent grass amongst Killdeer and Baird's Sandpipers

Farther south is Jett Lake, or what I think is called Jett Lake. It is easily
visible from the freeway, which is where I first looked at it from. Then I
drove a bit south to the next road, went west just past a fence, and then
followed a two-track north to the edge of the reservoir. It had goodly numbers
of shorebirds, the best being 3 BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS in the sw. corner (not
found a couple hours later) and a Pectoral Sand.

Neegronda, Neenoshe, and Ne No Spah (sorry, to lazy to look it up) were not
very interesting. The latter will likely be very sweet as water levels drop

At Lamar Community College Woods there was, per usual a N Cardinal... and not
unexpected, but not usual for me there... a RB Woodpecker. Of more note was a
PHILADELPHIA VIREO... a bright bird, entirely yellow beneath. Also present was
RE Vireo and Cassin's Vireo. There is a funky Myiarchus flycatcher there.
Probably a bright Ash-throated.

At Tempel Grove there was another Red-eyed Vireo, and Ovenbird, 2 American
Redstarts, and a MacGillivray's Warbler.

An the Neenoshe Locust Grove, there was an ALDER FLYCATCHER, which flew off
into the cottonwoods and tamarisk bowl that once was mostly under water. Also
there was an Indigo Bunting and just a nice assortment of stuff, especially for
Kiowa County, such as Cassin's Vireo and 7 Lazuli Buntings.

Good Birding
